Unhappy Candycane problem

I bought a pretty big piece of candycane coral about 4 days ago (4" x 4") and when I brought it home and was ready to place it in the tank, it pretty much fell apart into 3 sections so I figured I may as well place them in different parts of the tank. problem is I've been noticing in the past few days that one of the branches is turning white. is that piece dying or will it just be the branch? Do I leave it there or remove it? I've included a pic, it might be the flash but the other branches are a nice reddish brown with green centers and then there's the whitish one.
thanks in advance...
Louise
